Charter fishing St Pete area

Quality sea trout action continues with most fish being keeper size. These trout have been spread out and have peppered every flat I’ve been to that has good clean water flow. Bait of choice has been scaled sardines, smaller thread fin herring, and a good number of fish on fresh cut bait. Sharks are a daily target and have been pretty consistent this year with some real bruisers showing up in shallow water. The snook are in their post spawn hang outs and are on every shoreline just about and have trout and redfish mixed in. Several of my St Pete fishing charters have been doing what I call food chain fishing where we start out catching bait in the morning on a St. Petersburg grass flat. Then we move off to the edge of that very same flat and catch sea trout, Spanish mackerel, bluefish, silver trout, ladyfish, jack crevalle, and others. Lastly we take one of the fish and cut a hand size piece off and throw it off the back of the boat on a conventional tackle set up in search of the many different types of sharks we have here in Tampa Bay in summertime. These sharks include black tip, bull, hammerhead, bonnet head, lemon, Atlantic sharp nose,  and sandbar. This will go on thru summer and into fall. Redfish should be starting to congregate into better schools soon providing great action near the islands. If you’d like to go charter fishing St. Pete area give me a call, text, or email and I’ll get you on some of this fantastic fishing in Tampa Bay.
