Fishing Charters Tampa

This week we had a great time on the water on my fishing charters in Tampa area. The water is still sitting in the mid 60′s and the fish are still for the most part in a fall pattern still. The smaller baitfish have moved off the flats from what I’ve seen and the bigger bait is still available in the deeper water structures around Tampa Bay. We started this particular day fishing some deep water passes that are filled with spanish mackerel right now. As usual these fish are eating live bait and cut strips of bait with no problem. Then we moved on to fishing in some canals that we saw some nice snook in but the snook weren’t really interested in our offerings as they looked like they were more out to sun themselves than anything else. Our Tampa Bay area flats had just enough water on them to get up around the islands for a little while and fish for redfish. I saw a lot of activity but we only boated one redfish with dead bait on that stop. We finished the day fishing Tampa Bay grassflats drifting and throwing artificials for trout and the occasional ladyfish.

So far this has been incredibly mild winter like last year. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we’ll have an awesome winter of Tampa Bay fishing. Fishing trips are great Xmas ideas for that special someone that’s hard to buy gifts for!

Tight lines,

Capt. Chris
