Spanish Mackerel

All my fishing charters lately have been focused near lower Tampa Bay since the baitfish have still been available near deep water structures. The cooling water has pushed the redfish and bigger trout into the “skinny” water and if you can get to them the fishing has been great. I like to search for them in the potholes as far up on the flats as I can get on the lower tide stages. My tarpon fishing is all but done for most areas except for a few that may be willing in residential canals while fishing St Pete area. The snook are transitioning for winter time and I’ve seen quite a few showing up in the canals as the water temp drops. My last trip we focused on fishing St Pete beach on an east wind and also the flats near Pass-A-Grill. We caught countless big spanish mackerel, grouper, mangrove snapper, seatrout, ladyfish, jacks, and more.
