St. Petersburg fishing report

St. Petersburg flats fishing

St. Petersburg redfish

Today was a great day on the water fishing St. Petersburg. Client Al Muglach brought his two twelve year old sons and wife out for a day of inshore fishing.

Nice St. Pete redfish

The start of the day was a little slow drifting the grassflats for seatrout. We moved to an island and looked for redfish. Not finding any, I decided to hit another island. This proved to be a good move. We pulled up to the island and redfish were on the hook from the time we pulled up until the time we left.

We left them biting. The redfish were all top of the slot and larger and we caught approx. a half a dozen trout that were all “gators”. Meaning they were all the BIG variety. We ended the day with some snook fishing for about 20 minutes and caught an almost keeper grouper and had one bait that was “scaled” by what I believe was a snook. All in all a great 5 hours on the water with some great people. Fishing is where it should be right now. St. Petersburg fishing is at it’s best and will continue thru fall. Water temps have gotten into the low to mid 70′s and the fish are responding well to baits put in the right places. I still have a few April dates for St. Petersburg fishing and Tampa Bay area fishing available.

Tight lines!
