Fishing Charters Tampa
Water temperatures have remained in the low to mid 60′s lately and the winter fishing has been pretty good. Lately on my fishing charters Tampa Bay area I’ve been sticking with live shrimp, cut bait, and artificials consisting of 1/8 ounce jig heads with Mirrolure Lil’ Jon lures in a range of colors. The color doesn’t seem to be as important as finding the right way to work it for the conditions on that day. Some days the bait simply needs to be cast out and retrieved slowly. Other days, the fish seem to do better with the old twitch up, reel down/repeat technique. The bait is still available at the deep water structures but I haven’t really capitalized on it due to the fish eating the shrimp easy. We’ve been fishing St. Pete area docks for redfish, flounder, and sheepshead mostly and throwing a snook into the mix now and then. The seatrout fishing on the flats has been great especially on those days with a little breeze to push us across the water while throwing jigs.
Tight lines!
