Tampa Bay fishing report

Fishing remains solid in between light cold fronts in late October. Our last trip produced nice sized spanish mackerel, seatrout, bluefish, undersized grouper, jack crevalle, ladyfish, and a cobia that broke off before landing. This was while just drifting the flats and having a potluck fishing day. Some of the most productive days we have on the water are fishing for what’s biting at that moment instead of targeting a particular species. Tampa Bay is so diverse and always provides an adventure. We’ve been using a mixture of live bait and artificials on these fish and the artificials many times will out produce since you’re not having to keep putting on new baits on hooks. The snook are still around many structures and in the mangroves. The redfish I’ve been finding are in broken schools scattered around the islands and shallow potholes near them.

Fishing is great right now and there’s no better time to be on the water.

Tight lines!
